The
GM Duramax Power Pup 01-06. The Power Pup is designed to increase horsepower and torque by re-flashing the ECU with performance tuned programs. It does this by plugging into through the OBDII port that is located underneath the dash. The Power Pup gives the driver the choice between upgrading to an additional 50hp, 75hp or 95hp. The Power Pup can also be upgraded to an even larger race tuned increase. The programs that the downloader uses to add the power have been developed using a combination of dyno and road testing to get the safest most reliable horsepower increase available. The Power Pup can also remove the speed limiter, adjust the speedometer for different tire sizes and scan and erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's)

Proms and Programmed ECMs: Your 6.5 Turbo Diesel power can be enhanced with a exchange ECM from BD. They will produce a 30-40 horsepower increase and 60-90 lbs foot of torque. We also have modified the transmission shifting to take advantage of this performance increase. On 96-00 models, we program the computer with performance curves and replace the complete computer. On 1994 & 1995 trucks, we simply replace the E-prom located in the computer mounted behind the glove box. GM 1992 & 1993 model engines are mechanically, rather than electronically-controlled. Enhance engine horsepower by installing a BD turbo waste-gate control, a larger exhaust system, and a higher flow air intake system to increase airflow and reduce exhaust temperatures. Unless the individual product has been identified with a CARB# this product may only be used in California for Race applications and not be used on a highway.

EZ AMP
for DuraMax and Allison performance tuning provides 4 Levels of power from 30 Hp and 150 lbs ft. to 90 Hp and 250 lbs ft of torque that are set through a routine with the ignition key, accelerator pedal and gear shift lever. The new Attitude remote control has power level control on the fly! Hot Amp/Juice race files are also available for your current model or can be purchased new.
The engine performance is achieved by increasing the duration of the injection and the time it occurs. The power is only available once the engine is up to 80% of the engines operating temperature and is programmed to occur early in the throttle pedal travel. Transmission monitoring occurs and if clutch slippage is indicated the power is backed down to stock levels and then gradually stepped back in. The power also is backed off when shifting occurs into or when in convertor lock. Installation is EZ with factory specified plugs.

Test Cell Conditions
The test cell is arranged to test the engines under ideal conditions relating to the diesel fuel delivery system. The test cell fuel tanks are stationary and located six (6) to ten (10) feet above the engine. This setup provides two things that do not exist in the real world. One, positive fuel pressure to the injection pump. Two, diesel fuel free from fuel vapor and entrained air. This is directly related to the stationary fuel tank. With no agitation there is virtually no entrained air in the fuel and with the fuel being at a positive pressure to the pump, no fuel vapor is being produced!!
Real World Conditions
In the real world, the fuel tanks are usually mounted at least two (2) feet below and ten (10) feet away from the fuel pump, This configuration creates multiple problems associated with the fuel delivery to the engine. First, the injection pump has to draw the fuel from the tank by creating a vacuum. When diesel fuel is drawn by a vacuum fuel vapor is produced. Second, while the vehicle is underway the fuel is sloshing around in the fuel tanks creating entrained air. This circumstance has created a situation far from the test cell conditions which results in air and vapor being mixed in with the fuel when it is delivered to the injector. By having entrained air and air vapor in the fuel the engine does not perform at the engine manufacturer's specification. Air and fuel vapor occupy the space that should have pure fuel, thus delaying the injection of fuel into the combustion chamber. This phenomenon is better known as "RETARDED TIMING." The air/vapor present in fuel is very inconsistent making it virtually impossible to adapt the varying degrees of changes in injection timing. The retarded injections cause a multitude of problems in the combustion chamber!

XMonitor
What good is all this new power if you can`t monitor it? Enter BD`s X Monitor. Its readout mounts inside a nice module that is positioned on the driver`s side A-pillar. Seen are all three functions at the same time: transmission temperature, exhaust temperature and turbo boost pressure. All three have limits, and these numbers are downloaded into the X Monitor. When any are met or exceeded, the monitor face flashes a warning that can`t be missed.

The 6.5 injector is referred to as a pintle style injector, which is commonly used in an engine with pre-combustion cylinders. The injector has a needle plunger that plugs off the spray hole when it is closed. Once the pump allows fluid flow to the particular cylinder, the high fuel pressure forces the pintle away from the hole seat and the fuel stream is injected through the pre-combustion chamber into the combustion chamber. This type of engine often runs dirtier than a direct injected engine and the injectors require replacing between 80-100 thousand miles.
We offer new high flow Bosch injectors for this application or new stock injectors as well. |
